560: (10/365) Blackstar (Shining star)

This is Hoang Tien Quyet’s Shining star, a multifaceted recursive fold that is somehow appropriate for today, the anniversary of the passing of David Bowie:

2016 was a difficult year for me, and there remains 2 things that I am still struggling to come to terms with: my father’s passing at Easter and Bowie’s Passing in January.

Last January I folded a Blackstar, celebrating an amazing last album and it’s release so close to the end. This is an update of sorts and reveals a star of multifaceted complexity, an echo of the artist.

Folded from a pentagon, this, in the end, is a fairly simple fold but has a symmetric beauty that appealed to me.

If you want to fold it, follow the video, give it a whirl, but ensure you have as your sound track some Bowie – there is sure to be something in his massive back catalogue that triggers life memories.
