Ok, how about some nice weapons new players can get? Icepicks are kinda outta the question for low level newbies and hitting stuff for 3 damage with knives can really piss you off.

New wooden bows, some easy jocks drop them
Garden trowels, commune garden
Stanley knives & tomahawks, in the music centre

I'm sure there are more, just to give some new people some hints on finding better weapons so its more enjoyable. Feel free to add.

one of the weapons i loved was the jagged metal edge, not exactly a noobs item, i was lvl 7 and grouped with another one to get them, but it was worth it, up to 15 damage, and a +1 enchantment, i used them for ages, and gave them to many other characters. thrust of course...

actually cedar staffs are a nice weapon, and are available to middle range players, and allow you to build pole proficancy without burning through vat spears

Pole: Sweep oar(+1)

Missile: skee shooter rifles
(Yet to find an enchanted missile weapon)
