The Sixth Tome of terraMUD contains Terramud policy statements and can be
found in St. Joes Library. The Library can be found upstairs from Duhig Place (get there via the main stair well) at the northern end of the main corridor. A COPY of the policy tome ends this help file.

Rules here are as simple as possible.
- Each person should have NO MORE THAN 2 characters on at once please.
- Bullying is NOT OK. PKilling IS OK if done fairly [see below]
- If you choose CHAOTIC play then you accept that other players can attack and steal from you.
- Selling or sharing characters is not allowed.
- SPOILING is against the spirit of the game [ help spoiling ]
- PROFITEERING is against Policy [ help profiteer ].

Please take time to read POLICY in the Library - any questions can by MUDmailed to wonko or emailed to wonko@wonko.info

This is a game, it is meant to be fun - your game play can assist that.

Sixth Tome of terraMUD - POLICY - reviewed 25/06/2008

TMUX is only a game; you are supposed to being having fun; Wonko would prefer not to have to impose any rules but some are necessary. Other MUDs
out on the net are stricter. If you want to clarify any point, then 'sendmail' to wonko from any Post Office or e-mail him at wonko@wonko.info

Player files are reviewed periodically - unused characters (ie. those not used for 2 MONTHS) are deleted - they take up space and if you are not using them actively then there is no loss.

Unlike some other MUDs, you may play with up to 2 characters at the one time. If you can manage attacking on multiple screens then you may do so. However, do not complain if one or both of your characters is defeated while unattended or if your connection goes down mid-battle. That is the risk you take.

You may use client programs (like SimpleMU) to run TerraMUDX and implement simple triggers like "get all" after a victory. However you may NOT use triggers or timers for battling or healing (see below).

You are NOT to exceed the 2 characters on at one time limit else if caught the DM will DUST characters indiscriminantly - no questions asked, no explanations or justifications given - you will be warned ONCE!

You are NOT to share or sell players - doing so will result in their dusting or deletion. You have been warned. You should NOT exchange money for favour or player advantage (this is PROFITEERING). IT IS A FORM OF CHEATING and will result in BOTH the buyer and the seller's characters being DELETED. (It will also result in your House Dean being informed).

SPOILING is NOT OK. Spoiling put simply is the sharing of game details to less experienced players so they can solve quests that they should otherwise be able to solve themselves. The game is meant to be challenging, players are MEANT to work things out for themselves or as part of an inter-dependent party - blatant spilling of what to go to get what, who wants what or what does what HARMS the game and WEAKENS your position as a responsibile player. Should players KNOW of instances of spoiling, COPY conversation loges from IN-GAME and send them to wonko@wonko.info and the DM will dish out punishment as appropriate.

Players NEED to realise the time and dedication it takes to actually MAKE a game like this, as tehGAME MAKER, your DM requests that you respect the game a little and do not spoil. If the piece of info you are ABOUT to share is not something another player knows, DO NOT SHARE IT.

The following actions are not allowed and anyone caught breaking these rules will be subject to whatever punishment wonko deems appropriate (see below).

No automated play (using certain features of client programs) is allowed. You may not set a timer and leave your character/s battling monsters unattended. You may not use triggers to have some of your characters "react" to actions made by another of your characters. All attacks on monsters and players must be manually initiated from each character's "window".

You can have any combination of companion characters so long as the total number of characters OWNED BY YOU on at any one time is NO MORE THAN 2. If you are using a character as a healer, ALL assists must be initiated MANUALLY (ie. not as triggers) as such automated play is not in the spirit of this game.

NAGGING is NOT OK. Do not ask more advanced players continually for weapons, armor, scrolls or gold. If they say no, then the answer is NO. They had to work hard to attain their status - you should do the same. Similarly do not ask immortals for anything either - except advice. Continual harassment of high level players will result in punishment at the discretion of the DM including DETENTION, FUGITIVE or DUSTING.

It is NOT OK to use BLIND or FEAR on other PLAYERS - these tools are designed for use in combat with NPCs. Players BULLYING other players by abusively casting these spells on them will be punished. You have been warned.

DO NOT PKILL while your intended victim is engaged in battle with a monster or in bad health recovering from a savage battle - this is considered BAD FORM and is not allowed. If you are PKILLING then do it openly and fairly with honor, where your intended victim has a chance to defend themselves.

Player killing your own character is ONLY ok if there is NO benefit (monetary or XP) from doing so. Making different characters in different Alliances for the sole purpose of PKILL point scoring is against the rules (ie. it is CHEATING) - XP should be gained from battling others, not vanquishing yourself. Killing yourself in a combat cage, whilst clever, is NOT an acceptable way to top up your HP/MP - tick or use restoratives like everyone else.

Do not 'spam' other players. If a character is annoying you with repeated says, flashes, emotes or broadcasts, the best way to handle this is to 'ignore' the player and allow wonko to deal out the punishment. If the privilege of being able to broadcast is abused, wonko will consider decreasing the number of broadcasts allowed per mud-day. If someone is 'ignoring' you, do not ask someone else to message the other player or use broadcast to try to communicate with them. Wonko will not be amused and you will suffer the consequences.

Do not use excessively foul language. Given that a school with young students hosts the mud, the use of inappropriate language will not be tolerated. This also includes the use of inappropriate character names.

Do not sell quest or training items. The quests and training are a vital part of the game and players are encouraged to go on quests together and share quest items. However, you should never sell or purchase any quest or training item.

Advertising on this MUD is bad form - coming onto this MUD to gather players for another game is a despicable act (regardless of whether it is wrapped up in a "trying to re-build a long-lost but much-loved previous community" justification) it is abhorrent behaviour and should NOT be done. Busting this community to form another is not the work of an honourable person - players play here because they choose to play here and therefore should be left to do that, not to have to "choose sides".
