TMUX is made of up ROOMS connected by EXITS ... well, that may appear obvious but it helps when you realize the rooms are organized by wonko at the time of building via a MAP.

Type LOOK (or L) to get a view of your current location - after the room description you will see a list of exits visible to you. they either leave in CARDINAL DIRECTIONS (North, South, West, East, SW, SE, NW, NE, up, down, out) or via a named door (ladder, swim downstream, climb up).

To travel through an exit you have a few options. If it is a CARDINAL direction (n,s,w,e,nw,ne,sw,se,u,d,out) then typing the compass abbreviation for that direction will get you there. if it is a named door, you must type "go ladder" or whatever the exit is called.

Sometimes, in a room, there is more than one exit with the same name.

All exits: door, door, door, north.

To go through the second door, you would type "go door 2".

Some exits are not visible to you until you SEARCH for them - they are hidden exits.

Some exits cannot be found unless you have detect-invisible cast upon you - these are invisible exits.

Some exits are BOTH hidden and invisible, meaning you need to have detect-invisibility cast on you AND you need to search to find the exit.

There are a number of published maps to get you started.

The starting area of St. Joe's is covered, in part by this map:

KEY: the shaded * is the new player SPAWN POINT, P = post office, the shaded S = Sickbay, R= Regeneration (where you re-spawn after defeat), V=void, $ = the bank

Training Locations for Newbies

The training locations for Newbies [levels 1-3] can be found in the immediate vicinity of the quadrangle, via the following map:

In addition, you will need the requisite amount of XP (experience points) and Money - both of which you earn my battling monsters.

The amounts of XP and money required initially are as follows:

Level 2 requires 512 XP and $256
Level 3 requires 1024 XP and $512
Level 4 requires 2048 XP and $1024

"help levels" for more information. Both the Receptionist and the Senior teacher also know about training [levelling up] and you should find these creatures and talk to them as they hold much wisdom.
