How do proficiencies work? I know they go up by using a certain weapon or spell realm but in more detail please. |

My understanding of proficancies is as follows.
Both proficancies are raised by doing damage in combat. Magic by casting offensive spells, and weapon proficancies by hitting monsters with specific types of weapons. Both of these increase in proportion to the damage done with that type, not the amount of exp from the fight. (this may be incorrect? anyone?)
As weapon proficancies increase, the accuracy of hitting with that weapon increases, the likelhood and damage of critical hits increases, weapon skills such as backstab increase in potency as well as probabilityof success.
Magic proficancies increase the amount of damage done by offensive casting, and the likelyhood of the spell being successfully cast. I THINK that as proficancy in magics increases, the likelyhood and potency of non-damaging spells also increases.
Hope this helps
Higher weapon proficancies also decrease the probability you will fumble your weapon. |

Thanks swampy, but what i would also like to know is what determines how fast proficiencies go up, because Ferlin's wind proficiency is moving like a snail. Probably because the higher the proficiency the slower it rises. Is that correct? |

certainly, the higher the proficancy the slower it will increase. |
