ABSTRACT

InfoModeler is a Windows based visual modelling tool for designing databases. The database is designed in plain English via an implementation of Formal Object Role Modelling Language (FORML) as defined in "Conceptual Schema and Relational Database Design" by G.M. Nijssen and T.A. Halpin. This textbook should be familiar to every IPT teacher in Queensland. InfoModeler focuses on the design of the database using "facts". It allows the user to complete the steps of Conceptual Schema Design (CSD) process from the entry of elementary facts to a complete optimal normal form database design at the computer. This demonstration will introduce InfoModeler via a sample database.
