ABSTRACT

The face of how we teach computer programming is about to change - visual programming environments are here to stay! Procedural, top-down program design is being pushed aside to make way for event-driven programming environments such as DELPHI and VB.

This session aims to introduce participants to DELPHI - one of the most exciting new products in the computer industry today. Delphi merges visual and object-oriented programming features into a programmer-friendly development environment that allows rapid application development and deployment of high-speed Windows programs.

Participants will be shown an overview of the major components of DELPHI and a small project involving building a simple calculator will be used to demonstrate the visual programming environment. Key terminology such as properties, events, and methods will be explained and participants will soon also see how DELPHI makes programming fun again.
