Light

Posted by on April 14, 2012

The light here in London is different – let me explain, briefly.

We have been out and about in “bright” sunlight and have not felt the need to wear sunglasses, it is warm in the light but not that bright, even when it is clear blue skies. There is a slight haze, but the angle and intensity seems different to what we are used to.

There is longer light – the sun comes up at about 6am and the twilight lasts until nearly 8pm – this is disorienting particularly when going out, our body clocks tell us that it should be dark at night. Even when the sun goes down it is not dark dark – I remember seeing on the Telly the other night that London leads many cities in the “light pollution” – locals decry not being able to see the stars because of it.

Hope this has been illuminating.
